 Church of the Redeemer Website Policy
Adopted by Vestry December 21, 2010

1. Purpose
        a. This policy will define approved Website content, usage, and responsibilities.
        b. The Vestry will appoint a committee to review this policy on an annual basis.
        c. Policy updates will be made as needed and approved by the Vestry.

2. Webmaster/Team
        a. The Vestry will appoint volunteers from the parish to fill the positions of Webmaster and a
            support team.  Volunteers may be recommended by the Website committee.
        b. The Webmaster will have the responsibility of training support team members in the use of
             the website software.
        c. The Webmaster will have the responsibility for maintaining the website and insuring that
            website content is appropriate with the stated objectives.
        d. The webmaster and support team will also assist those persons assigned responsibility for
            updating particular sections of the website.
        e. The Webmaster will have responsibility for backing up website files.
        f. If the website is compromises by a virus, hacking, or similar problems, it shall be
            shut down immediately and the vestry notified.

3. Objectives
        a. Church of the Redeemer's website was created to provide an easily accessed public
            information center about our church's activities and beliefs, with emphasis on how we are an
            active part of our local community.
        b. The website includes an explanation of our worship, history of our church, and other
            information of use to both other Episcopalians and the general public.
        c. A secure portion of the site accessible only to parish members to provide them with internal
            parish information may be developed over the next year.

4. Website Content
        a. As stated above, content must be appropriate and in support of the site objectives.
        b. The site will be divided into 2 sections:
                1) A public access section containing general, non-sensitive information. 
    a) Our form of worship, what we celebrate and, how to contact us
    b) Our efforts at Christian Education and Outreach to the community
    c) Our parish life, a gallery of photos, and our worship schedule
    d) Our calendar of upcoming events and bulletin board for announcements
    e) News items and articles from our rector and vestry
    f) Our history and links to the larger Anglican community.
    g) A reciprocal link to the Chamber of Commerce of which we are a member
    h) A spam proof e-mail portal to contact various parish personnel.
2) A restricted access section, if developed, containing sensitive information
    a) Our monthly newsletter
    b) Our church directory
    c) Our annual budget
    d) A summary (with archival capabilities) of the most recent Vestry, Altar Guild, and
    other meetings whose minutes would be appropriate to post.

5. Website Access
a. The Webmaster and support team will have full access for maintenance to all sections.
        b. The Webmaster and support team will have the authority to authorize selected individuals
             to have access for updating specific pages of the website.  For example the parish secretary
             will be responsible for updating the calendar of events.
        c. All others will have viewing access only.

6. Privacy Issues
        a. Personal information on parishioners will be protected from the public.
        b. Parish financial information will be protected from the public.
        c. Internal parish business will be protected from the public.
        d. Photographs:
                1. Permission to use photos of adult parish members on Redeemer's website is
                    assumed to  be given.  Parish members who do not want photos of themselves
                    used on the website must notify the Webmaster in writing.  Notification forms to
                    opt out are available at the parish office.
                2. Written permission must be obtained from the parent or guardian of any minor
                    child before the child's picture is used on the website.
